A little extra boost can lead to incredible possibilities. When you ride an electric bike, there is no ride too long, no hill to steep and no place your legs can’t take you. Ditch the daily traffic jam, get more exercise and feel great about treading more lightly on the planet. And best of all – have a ton of fun along the way.
How do e-bikes work?
E-bikes are not electric motorcycles. They don’t have a throttle and they require your input to make them move forward. E-bikes use pedal-assist motors. As you pedal, sensors on the bike detect your effort and adjust the motor’s power accordingly. You can choose from different levels of pedal assist, which range from a gentle boost to maximum support. This means the motor will give you more help when you need it, like climbing hills or accelerating.
In Australia, E-Bikes are governed to 27km/h. This means you can still ride them on shared bicycle and walking paths. It keeps everyone safe and extends the run time of your battery.
How far can they go?
The size of the battery, terrain and assistance level of the motor will determine how far you can ride your e-bike. Most e-bikes will get between 40-180km in a single charge.
What e-bikes do we sell
When you buy an E-bike from KD Cycles, you recieve a charging cable. It often takes 4 hours from dead to charge a battery to 80% (the last 20% often takes a while). The charger comes with a regulator to essential not over charge the battery and cause any unforeseen accidents. This means you can leave the charger on the bike for longer than the battery needs without needing to worry! We still recommend that with our chargers you dont leave them on the bikes for excessive amounts of time (Like other tech). Lithium ion batteries can run to dead, but excessively doing so may cause the battery health to decrease, keeping some charge is better than none!
Can e-bikes operate in the rain?
Yes, our e-bikes are designed to operate all year round.
Have more questions.
We live and breath bikes! And we’re more than happy to answer any queries or questions you might have about getting on a new e-bike.
Fathers day is just around the corner so here are some of our top gifts to spoil dad this Sunday.
1. Gloves
You can’t go wrong with a set of a fresh set of gloves for dad. Every cyclist knows the joys of sliding into a fresh pair of gloves before a heading out on a ride. They’ll boost dad’s moral and mean you don’t have to see his ratty old pair any longer!
2. Oakley Sunglasses
Get dad something super bling this fathers day and treat him to a new pair of premium sunnies. Oakley has long been the gold standard for eyewear in the sporting world and with a heap of styles, colours and lens technologies there will be something to suit your dad’s need.
3. Cleaning Products
You’ve probably noticed your Dad spends more time cleaning his bike then cleaning the house. So why not get him the right gear for the job! We’ve got a huge range of bike-specific cleaning products in the shop and sweet little kits that have everything he needs to get his bike sparkly clean.
4. Spares and Tools
If dad goes riding by himself than it’s worthwhile treating him to a good spares kit. It will save his bacon if he’s out on a ride and suffers a flat tyre and also means you won’t receive a phone call at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning to pick him up.
5. Lights
We all love our dads (most of the time anyway) and we want them to be safe while they’re out on the roads. A good set of LED lights is a great gift and will give you and Dad peace of mind while he’s out on the roads.
6. Gift Voucher
Still, have no idea what to get Dad? Leave it up to him! A gift voucher is a great gift and allows dad the choice to spend it on whatever he so desires; better still takes the pressure off you.
We hope we’ve made buying a gift for fathers day a little easier for you this year and wish you and your family a very special fathers day this Sunday.
